Proposal Submission Deadline Has Been Extended
February 1, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. EST

THEME
"Internships & Beyond: Solutions and Strategies for the Evolving Spectrum of Experiential Education" encourages proposals to explore the diverse and evolving modalities and methodologies of experiential education, from experiential staples like the internship to innovative programs and initiatives guided by a different vision or definition of experiential education. Additionally, the theme encourages proposals to provide solutions and strategies to equip conference attendees with ideas and resources that can be implemented at their own institutions.

OVERVIEW
Proposals must be structured around experiential education areas of interest relevant to any level(s) of education. Additionally, your proposal must fit within one or more of the following conference tracks:

  • Assessment & Evaluation
  • Best Practices
  • Diversity
  • Faculty/Staff Development
  • Institutional Implementation
  • Innovation & Scholarship
  • Leadership
  • Partnerships & Employers
  • Technology

SUBMISSION
All proposals must be submitted electronically to [email protected] using the online form at www.nsee.org under the conference section. Incomplete proposals or improperly formatted proposals will not be considered.

CONFERENCE PROPOSAL REVIEW
Proposals will be peer-reviewed by the 2019 NSEE Conference Planning Committee. Review teams will then evaluate proposals based on the following criteria:

  • Clarity: Do the title and abstract clearly describe the session? Is the abstract well-written? Is it clear what the session will be like for NSEE conference attendees?
  • Relevance: Is the content of the presentation relevant to the conference theme and/or one of the conference tracks? Will this session positively contribute to the conference? Is there something compelling about this topic that will attract an audience?
  • Outcomes: Are the session outcomes clear? Will attendees be provided takeaways that can be utilized at their institutions?
  • Interactivity: Is the session designed to be interactive and engage the audience? Does the proposal articulate how attendees will be engaged? Are examples provided including what hands-on activities, deliverables, and takeaways will be presented to the conference attendees?

FORMAT
Presenters are requested to provide their preferred presentation format on the application form. Since a limited number of session and roundtable spaces are available, all requests will be taken into consideration, but preferences cannot be guaranteed. Submission of a proposal constitutes your willingness to accept and abide by the final decision of the Conference Committee.

  • Sessions are 60-minute, or 90-minute presentations followed by discussion and questions. Preference will be given to sessions that actively engage participants and reflect a depth and breadth of experience. Please articulate clearly in your proposal the strategy you will use to actively engage the audience.
  • Roundtables are three, 20-minute interactive discussions (60 minutes total), held at roundtables and led by the presenter(s). The sessions are informal in nature and are intended to promote insights and conversation among participants.  Roundtables normally accommodate no more than 8 to 10 people.
  • PechaKucha presentations are fast-paced, multiple speaker formats in which each presenter has precisely 6 minutes, 40 seconds in a structure of 20 PPT slides presented for 20 seconds each.

NOTIFICATION
Applicants will be notified of the status of their proposal no later than May 24, 2019. If a proposal has multiple presenters, written correspondence will be sent only to the primary contact. It is the responsibility of the primary contact to disseminate all information regarding the proposal to all presenters.

ABSTRACT PUBLICATION
The abstract submitted in the template section of the Proposal Application may be used by NSEE to promote the Annual Conference. NSEE reserves the right to edit abstracts for publication in the conference program and advertising materials.

PRESENTATION POSTING OPTION
Presenters have the option to submit an electronic copy of their presentation and/or handout materials which will be posted on the conference website.

CHANGES & CANCELLATIONS
Once the program schedule has been finalized, changes cannot be made. While situations may arise that might cause a presenter to cancel his/her presentation, NSEE encourages presenters to seek every possible alternative, including finding a substitute or co-presenter, prior to making a decision to withdraw from the conference. In the event that a presenter must cancel, written notification must be submitted to NSEE at the presenter’s earliest opportunity. Failure to do so may result in non-acceptance of future program proposals.

CONFERENCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED
All presenters are required to register for the full conference. Information on conference registration fees and hotel rates will be available at www.nsee.org by mid-May 2019.  Discounts are available for campus teams of 5 or more.
