I did some last year at Stony Brook University with startup, non-profit and company. Doing it online is actually great because we are no longer limited by where these collaborators are (but of course with consideration of any time difference).
I set up an initial meeting, explained the goal of what we are trying to achieve and what the criteria (and limit) are in terms of what our students can do, and then set up follow up meetings and feedback form to get input from the collaborators.
It's important to establish how students are students, and they are not doing things full time yet. So, establishing an understanding of the limitations really helps.
Also, the other thing is whether your institution wants to do this for individual students or with a group of students. The amount of work on the admin side could change dramatically. |
