Hi Mackenzi,

I hope this finds you well! I would like to connect to learn more about how your students are able to get credit based micro-internships. I am from Montclair State University and in charge of the experiential learning for one of our graduate business programs and I am in the stage of learning how we can further expand our experiential learning opportunities to students. Would you have some time next week to connect? Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best,
April

Ben, it's been quite a semester here at Vanderbilt where our first class that had our EL program as a degree requirement just graduated. Glad to talk with you anytime!

At Culver-Stockton College, we have two required experiential courses required with the Gen Ed curriculum. This is in addition to experiential elements required within the majors (e.g., internships).

At Stony Brook University, we have a "strongly encouraged" but not absolutely required experience.

https://www.stonybrook.edu/sb/bulletin/current/policiesandregulations/degree_requirements/EXPplus.php

More than 90% of our UGs participate. We are growing the options through curriculum innovation in service learning.

Happy to talk through our program with anyone who wishes.

Hi Ben,

We have had an experiential learning requirement at Nazareth for the last 12 years. There are 8 possible pathways to fulfill the requirement (and we have used NSEE/SEE's 8 best practices to guide/vet the pathways) and all are captured on the transcript in some way (most through credit-bearing courses, but sometimes through a zero credit transcript notation).

If you decide to set up a call or add'l conversation, let me know!

Hello! The University of Georgia implemented has has an experiential learning graduation requirement in place for all undergraduates since 2016. I would be happy to discuss our process, what worked, and what didn't with you!

Best,
Kay

Hi Ben,

I welcome the opportunity to discuss what we do at University of Texas at Arlington.

I direct the Center for Service Learning, and am also the lead for the campus-wide Maverick Advantage Faculty Engagement Program. Both are academically based and involve incorporation of experiential elements (one or more high impact activities) into courses. We also have faculty fellows programs and campus workshops that teach faculty how best to do this.

My email is [email protected]. Maybe we could set up a Teams call to discuss.

I'd be happy to discuss. I've worked with various institutions on sharing what we have at the University of Cincinnati. You can reach me at [email protected]

Hi, Ben,

We have some experience in setting up credit-based micro-internships, full-time internships and now just launching some credit-based co-op's. All of it is, however, in smaller institutions. Happy to connect if helpful. Mackenzi

Hello-

My campus, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), is in the initial planning stages of implementing an experiential learning (EL) requirement and my unit has been charged with launching and implementing this requirement. I am wondering if other SEE members have experiences of doing something similar and, if so, would be willing to connect? At this point, I am very open and would be happy to connect with anyone about this topic.

For context, we are a large urban public research institution with an access mission and a commitment to community engagement. Initial conversations have steered us towards a curricular route, where EL would need to be tied to some type of academic credit for it to "count". But, by no means is anything set in stone.

If you have thoughts, best practices, pitfalls to avoid, insights, etc., I would be happy to have the conversation here in the forum or off-line.

Thank you!

Ben
