Call for Nominations: 

NSEE Awards of Excellence, Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship
and the John S. Duley Lifetime Achievement Award

Deadline for all nominations has been extended to Monday, March 21, 2022

NSEE Awards of Excellence 

Each year, the National Society for Experiential Education honors our colleagues in K-12, higher education, community organizations and corporations or foundations who are making significant contributions to the field of experiential education. Prior award winners include presidents, teachers, deans, and community partners.  

Consider nominating a colleague today! Nominations will be accepted until March 21, 2022, with winners notified in early-May 2022. Winners will be recognized at NSEE’s Annual Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah in September 2022.   

“Outstanding” categories include: 

  • Anna Julia Cooper Excellence In Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice in Experiential Education
  • Experiential Education Program
  • Leader in Experiential Education (Higher Education, K-12, Community-Based Organization, and Corporate or Foundation)
  • Experiential Education Rising Leader
  • Experiential Education Research
  • Dissertation of the Year

 NSEE Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship

The National Society for Experiential Education is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in its membership and program offerings. Our vision is to expand the perspectives shared and voices heard throughout our growing profession. We wish to improve access to premier professional development and increase the involvement of diverse experiential educators in NSEE’s committees, initiatives, and leadership opportunities.  

The NSEE Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship includes one year of membership and one complimentary conference registration with a $500 stipend to support travel to the NSEE Conference. 

Who is Eligible? Individuals who:

  • are from groups currently underrepresented within NSEE, including, but not limited to: African-American/Black, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, Native American, LGBTQ+, Veterans, People with disabilities.

AND

  • currently working in the field of experiential education.
  • have not attended the NSEE National Conference in the last 3 years.

John S. Duley Lifetime Achievement Award

This NSEE award, established in 2012 and named for Professor Emeritus John S. Duley, celebrates the remarkable professional life of this NSEE Pioneer and Distinguished Scholar.  His impressive career spanned decades and reflected his lifetime devotion to experiential learning, teaching, and education as well as his passion for furthering knowledge and understanding in its academic, practice, and political dimensions.  

This award recognizes the lifetime, sustained contributions and achievements of those who have devoted their professional careers to the development of the philosophy and practice of experiential education and to the advancement of that field.  They have done so while demonstrating professional integrity, humanitarian regard, ethical concern, standards of excellence, informed knowledge, leadership, service, dedication, and recognized scholarship/practice.
